If you thought Madison County was growing before, just wait until you see what’s taking shape along Main Street!
Two exciting new restaurants are now under construction—and they promise to bring two very different dining experiences to the heart of Madison.
🍽️ The Lady May
Already a popular destination in Ocean Springs, The Lady May is bringing its second Mississippi location to Madison. Expect a welcoming sit-down restaurant that feels comfortable enough for a family meal but special enough for date night.
Its menu draws inspiration from both Southern and Italian family cooking, with nostalgic favorites such as fried chicken, scratch-made biscuits, homemade jams and pepper jellies. Plans also include a general store!
🍔 Station 1856
Located beside The Lady May, Station 1856 will offer a more casual outdoor experience featuring green space, string lights, a walk-up bar, handheld foods, hand-cut ribeyes, cold drinks and plenty of room to gather with friends and family.
And that name has a Madison connection: 1856 was the year the Illinois Central Railroad opened Madison Station, helping shape the community that became the City of Madison.
☕ The Bean
Also coming to Madison Avenue is The Bean—a coffee bar and café expected to offer much more than your morning coffee. Plans call for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, along with specialty coffees, teas and healthier gourmet selections.
And there’s more ahead! Five new office and retail buildings are planned for the former Persnickety property on Main Street, with future restaurants, shops and professional offices expected to follow.
This is more than a few new places to eat. It’s part of a larger vision for a walkable, welcoming downtown area where people can dine, shop, gather and enjoy the community.
The Lady May and Station 1856 are currently targeting a summer 2027 opening, and I believe people will be watching the progress closely!
